How about to a museum where the staff demonstrate about the "old days"? When I was in fourth grade we took a trip to a one room school house. Our teacher taught us about etiquette of 1910, and had us dress like we were from that year, bring our own lunch, and we got to have lessons from another woman who dressed and acted like she was from 1910. It was so much fun! Like a trip to the past!

WHERE I SHOULD FILE A SERIOUS COMPLAINT AGAINST A PRIVATE COLLEGE, LOCATED IN BALTIMORE, MARYLAND?

WHERE I SHOULD FILE A SERIOUS COMPLAINT AGAINST A PRIVATE COLLEGE, LOCATED IN BALTIMORE, MARYLAND?
Here is the scenario: After graduating from High School, my daughter get admission in a Private College. The college enrolement staff told us that it is an accridated institution. My daughter pursued for an Associated Degree in IT. The course was completed in 15 months and costs us about $30,000 that were paid by different kind lof loans etc. After complition, the college announced the convocation date in December, 2009. The convocation took place and after the convocation, when we wanted to see the degree, my daughter told that the college will send it in mail. Though it was strange but we did not get too much concerned. After couple of week, when my daughter went to get admission in other colleges/universities, it was found that none of these institution accepts the credits from the college she already graduated. She has to start from the very begining. We took up this matter with the management of the college in question but they did not give us a satisfactory answer to our questions. After another couple of weeks, my daughter enquire about her degree which she never got in mail, as was told to her, the management informed her that she owe $360 to the college. On our question, they could never explain and the neither maild the degree nor any bill or explanation for $360. Now after another couple of week, we got a letter from a collection agency, demanding for payment of $360. This is really a crocket and fradulant kind of dealing and I want to file a complaint against this college as well as a law suit in the court of law. I would highly appreciate if some one can help me and guide as to how I can fight this case.

You need to get you an attorney and find out what you can do. Do you have paperwork that says the school is accredited and with what agency? Your daughter may be able to take tests and pass out of classes that she took so long as she can show she has the knowledge. You can send a certified letter asking for information about the $360 charge they say is owning. You can require they show you how it was incurred and what the money that was paid went for. It could be for a graduation fee for being in the graduation. There is often a fee for that service or for cap and gown or other fees. You may contact your congressman or your senator to complain about this school and how it was used for government loans that your daughter owes and yet it is not accredited though they said they were, etc. If government is involved in the loans, then it should be interested in how the money is used and provide some protection. Talking to your representative and your senator (federal lovel may help you some, but to sue you need an attorney as it can get very complicated. I think you likely need assistance to file. And you may have to show that what you were promised was not what you got. Good luck to you.

University of Maryland, Baltimore County?

University of Maryland, Baltimore County?
am transferring out of here (community college in Maryland) with my associate's degree, and need at least 90 credits to get into UMBC School of Dentistry, which means I will have to take two semesters * fifteen credits each at UMBC before applying to dental school there, considering they transfer 60 credits max currently. I am wondering, does that change with the associate's degree? Because I will have 64-68 credits when I graduate with the associate's. All of this in mind, what are my chances of being accepted into UMBC School of Dentistry without a bachelor's degree (90 credits total) and a GPA of about 3.6? I haven't taken ACT/SAT/DAT yet obviously, and am also curious whether schools typically look at your GPA or any of the aforementioned tests.

Why would it be obvious that you haven't taken SAT or ACT? Without a bachelor's degree and with a 3.6 GPA I think it it pretty unlikely you will get into any dental school (or for that matter any highly competitive professional program.)

2
If they only accept 60 credits maximum -- then what makes you think that just because you have an AA means that they will accept your 68? 60 credits maximum means that they won't accept more than 60 credits. Isn't that pretty obvious? While a GPA of 3.6 is good -- I also suspect that it isn't good enough to get you into dental school a year early.

Anyone in the Mid-Atlantic off school tomorrow 'cause of snow?

Anyone in the Mid-Atlantic off school tomorrow 'cause of snow?
I live in Maryland, near Baltimore, and alot of counties in Maryland, including mine, are off school tomorrow. Several school districts in Pennsylvania, Delaware, New Jersey, and Virginia are closed tomorrow also. I know that because I saw the websites of some schools districts in those states. Anyone else off school tomorrow because of the recent snowstorm? Wednesday is my county's last day before Christmas break, unless it is closed then.

What should I bring on my school trip?
Wendsay, I am leaving for Washington, D.C, Baltimore, Maryland, and Virginia and I have thought on alot of things to bring like my nintendo ds, PSP, and Laptop and of course clothes but is there anymore things that are interesting to bring when I get bored on the bus, P.S: I need something me and my friends can enjoy

If you are traveling by bus then space might be a problem. Personally I find that when I pack a ton of stuff to do (like when I travel 8+ hours by plane) I don't even use half of it and I'm totally cramped in my seat. The laptop gets very heavy and after awhile I get really irritable carrying all that stuff. The other day I saw (in Staples) tiny books that have word games like sudoku and hangman, etc. that you and your friends could do. Don't forget, if you're going to a new place, you might not be as bored as you think, it sounds like you will have a lot of fun because it's a new experience. Have a great time and good luck!

i wouldn't bring both your DS and PSP..choose one or the either. if i were you, i'd bring a laptop and camera. i'm pretty sure there are interesting things to see/do on the bus, and plus, some people get sick from reading on the bus

look in your phonebook and find any local school...call them up and ask them if they have any resources available and if not then they should be able to help you find them. even when school is out, they can answer the phones...a lot of the school staff will work through the summer to get ready for the following school year. good luck!

There are some on Download.com. But some are not free. Be careful which are which and be careful what sites you use. This one is reasonably safe.

That depends on what part of Baltimore you are living in or working in? Let me know that and I might be able to give you some suggestions.

I'm looking for an acting agency or program to participate in Baltimore, Maryland?
Ever since I took a drama class in high school, I've always looked up into acting. Many of my friends think I should get into it and I'm searching for agencies or programs I could get involved in. Any suggestions? I've checked that there is a John Robert Powers here in Baltimore, but researching through the net, I've saw the complaints from others saying it is a scam. If you encountered their scam, I would love to hear your story. I want to look for legit agencies and programs. I'm taking my passion seriously and I need to search for a real agency or program

Would attending Johns Hopkins University give me a better chance of being admitted into their Medical School?

Would attending Johns Hopkins University give me a better chance of being admitted into their Medical School?
Would it give me a better chance of being admitted into their medical school, compared to if I attended a school like University of Maryland College Park or University of Maryland Baltimore County? This is assuming that I do extremely well in my undergrad years, no matter what school I attend [4.0 gpa, lots of community service, research experience, rigorous pre-med courses, excellent MCAT score] Please help me out.

They say that it doesn't affect their decision but i believe it does.

I doubt that it gives you much of an an advantage over someone from a comparable school. However, going to a good undergraduate program increases your chances of getting into a good medical school. University of Maryland is an excellent public university and Johns Hopkins is a prestigious private university. UMBC will not carry the same weight as UMD or Johns Hopkins.

3
Yes, Alumini status would allow you to be a preffered candidate. It will not play a significant role in your application, but it just might give you that extra boost. You still need to have an excellent GPA, MCAT's,recommendations, and essay, but you already know that.

4
It will give you a better chance of getting into medical school ASSUMING you maintain a high GPA. This is easier said than done at Hopkins. Just think about it--everyone there was a star in their high school classes. I'm assuming you have a very good GPA and test scores to even be considering it, but so will everyone else in your class if you go there. I understand that it can be very cutthroat, with some students even sabotaging others (stealing textbooks, giving their peers wrong answers to questions) in order to stay at the top of the curve. I have known of several very bright people who have had their dreams of medical school shattered because they couldn't hack it at a tough place like Hopkins. Not trying to scare you--just consider all factors carefully.

Looks like ure in good shape. High GPA, MCAT SCores. Do whatever you want . If u want to go to Johns Hopkins, I would go to their University. Sounds like ure a smart student, even if you applyl To Johns Hopkins Unversirty while attending University of Maryland. I bet u'll still get into the University!

Professional degree programs at institutions of higher education (IHEs) consider a wide variety of factors in accepting candidates. Certainly each had base-line standards of admission in terms of GPA, standardized test scores, etc. But know that each institution in interested in creating a divers student body with broad knowledge and interests. Clearly, you will need to have a solid background and skill set from a developed undergraduate curriculum, but 90% of the candidates to you PhD program likely have the same academic credentials...it's about your passion and your desire to achieve that will matter. An IHE is going to select the candidate with a strong desire to seek out hidden answers, to reach a new level of personal care, to excel and work hard each and every time over the candidate who just wants to get rich. The thing that might set you apart from other equally qualified candidates could be your stellar achievements in a hobby, or perhaps the community service work you enjoy. Don't worry too much about WHERE you go, what makes candidates unique is WHAT they did with the time they had. Harvard Grad who partied her butt off and did the bare minimum vs State School with accolades from community partners, proud professors, a solid internship and a cool hobby. the latter wins every time.

If looking for a full-time program while still in high school, the local vocational school may offer such a program, however, students that attend a county vocational high school may have some difficulties dealing with their peers and are opting for that path as opposed to the traditional high school. Even if deciding to wait until graduating with a high school diploma, please forgo those private $$ career schools and instead opt for the county vo-tech school, community college or university. Perhaps the county community college offers a course for teens in cooking/culinary arts during the summer(?) Please also steer clear of online, for-profit schools such as penn foster, stratford career, university of phoenix, ITT tech and others as they are merely out to 'make a profit': http://www.uopsucks.com http://www.ripoffreport.com and can type into search. US colleges: http://www.utexas.edu/world/univ General career information: http://www.bls.gov/oco and can search 'chefs, cooks and food preparation workers' or such.
